The All Progressives Congress has called on the Senator representing Anambra Central, Victor Umeh to focus on the business of legislating for the democratic dividends of the people rather than engaging in an uneccesary verbal war with Governor Rochas Okorocha.
In a statement put out by its Zonal Publicity Secretary, Igboeli Arinze, the APC wondered why Umeh who was yet to positively make any meaningful impact in the senate and the lives of his constituents was rather engaging in an egoistical war of polemics with Okorocha over the impeachment process of his deputy.
This he said was taking its toll on the quality of representation due to the senatorial district.
” The good people of Anambra Central have watched in dismay the abnegation of legislative duties by Senator Victor Umeh for bickering and petty quarrels. Since his controversial election into the senate, Umeh rather than focus on the business of legislation has chosen to engage in newspaper and social media war of words with distinguished Nigerians, the climax of such absurdity being the recent exchange with media aides of the Governor of Imo State.
We in the APC wonder how this barrage of insults and ego trips on the pages of newspaper translate into quality representation of the needs of our senatorial constituency, we are indeed at a loss on how such wrangling on social media will result in jobs for our teeming youths and arrest the ever growing threats of people losing their homesteads owing to the dangers of erosion? Has Umeh attended to or presented the numerous petitions of members of Ndi Anambra Central who have been wronged by a number of actions by instituitions and agencies?
We therefore challenge Umeh to face the legislative tasks that he was elected for, and cease engaging in fogeyish blitherskite, which we see as embarrassing.”
