Arsene Wenger was in Liberia two days ago to receive  a National honour from the president of the counry, George Opong Weah. Weah doubles as Wenger’s former player and the only African to have won the world best footballer of the year.

Arsene Wenger who stepped down as Arsenal’s coach after spending 22 years at the club last won silverware for the club in 2017, when he was handed the premier league golden cup.

BBC  while reporting the news said: ”Arsenal’s ex-coach Arsene Wenger finally wins a medal, thanks to Liberia’s President George Weah.” A statement which sparked annoyance among not only Arsenal fans but football falls generally.

They queried the news firm for using such  disrespectful headline for a man who is one of the most successful managers in English football with many medals and trophies to his name, having won 3 league titles, 7 FA Cups and 7 Community Shields.
