Former Governor of Anambra State and the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the just-concluded 2019 election, Peter Obi, has said that no nation can grow by election rigging.
Obi described election rigging as the worst form of misdeed that could limit the development of any country. This was made known in a statement released from his media office.
Obi pointed out that the way through which people acquire a position is more important than what they do when they get into office.
For Obi, election rigging is the root cause of corruption, as it goes to impact negatively on the political and economic growth of the country.
Obi said that the “fraud” that characterised the 2019 elections had greatly undermined the country’s democracy, adding that it had significantly damaged the future of the country, ridiculed the fight against vices and tainted the integrity of those responsible.
