The Implications of Ihedioha’s love letter to Imo PDP Delegates

By: Aic Akwarandu

As one of the Ad-Hoc Delegates Representing Ward 12 in Ezinihitte Mbaise, I felt elated when I read a well drafted letter properly addressed to me, coming from Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha. I said to myself, if only we can value leaders who have value for one another, Nigeria will be great again. For real, a man who could seat and sign over three thousand letters, properly addressed to the delegates with their names on it, is indeed the man Imo needs. Lack of leadership that pays attention to details has killed the state, hence the dire need for a man who upholds administrative decorum and bureaucracy.

Looking at the letter itself

In the letter, the message did not change. One thing that has placed Ihedioha above board is his consistency. He is consistent with his message, he is consistent in the Party, he has remained consistent in his criticisms against bad governance both in the State and at the National level. You can never fault him on consistency. While the purpose of the article is not to discuss the consistency of the man, Ihedioha, it’s important to note that Ihedioha’s letter to Imo PDP delegates presents hope that a better governed Imo is in sight. Ihedioha has continued to present himself as a man well prepared to deliver Imo from the present day oppressors. He has carried out his campaign diligently, moving round the wards, communities, LGA and zones preaching the sincere message of liberation which he champions.

Ihedioha’s letter presents him as an articulate being who has the technical know how to fast track development in Imo State. The letter shows a man with great thinking, fresh ideas and a man working with best brains to restart Imo. The letter shows his commitment to democratic process where leaders solicit for support from the masses through consultations. His respect to the delegates is also seen while doing analysis of his letter. Ihedioha respects the position of the delegates as the highest umpire in the decision of who becomes the candidate, hence he has passionately solicited for their support and partnership to rebuild Imo.

Imo under Ihedioha, the civil service will be attractive, the State will be a place for vacation, where hard-work, dedication and commitment will be rewarded spontaneously by structures put in place by the state leadership. There will be checks and balances, remember, till today there is no proven allegation of fraud traced to Emeka Ihedioha, he is not perfect as a human anyway. Same with all of us.

Ihedioha has emotionally pierced the minds and the hearts of the delegates into believing in his project. The delegates are not just going to vote for him, because that is not the content of the letter. The content of the letter is that the delegates should partner with him in the Imo Project. According to him, the process of liberating Imo is “all important”.

He also presents himself as well equipped and a man with a better understanding of Imo State. No doubt about this, Ihedioha has attracted so much grassroots support to himself. This he gained spontaneously by regularly associating with the Imo masses without minding who you are. Ihedioha comes home every other week and spends the entire weekend visiting people. Ihedioha is best described in the voice of Dr Vin Udokwu as a man with “All round capacities”. Ihedioha’s letter reads.

I wish to convey my profound felicitations to you on your emergence as a delegate for our party’s primaries.

You will recall that we set we set out on this journey in the last general election, with the conviction that our state was badly governed. I had offered myself to lead the state and actualize the dreams we envisioned for our state and I believe you were a part of that memorable struggle.

Regrettably, the situation then that spurred me to offer myself for service, has worsened, necessitating a more determined aspiration again. I therefore present myself to be considered by our great party to fly its flag in the next general election.

Within the past five months, I have visited and interacted with Imo PDP Party officers, stakeholders and the members from the 305 wards, visiting 87 clans in the 27 LGAs of the State. In the process of my sojourn, I believe that I now know Imo better and our people now understand me better than in 2014. I’m also more equipped and better prepared.

To actualize our collective goal, I shall deploy my huge government experience, multiple capacities, goodwill, consequential network of contacts, grassroots support and acceptability, as well as impressive track-record of achievements, for the benefit of us all.

I’m convinced that together and by the grace of God, we can #RebuildImo and restore our values for the collective good and interest of our party and Imo State in general.

In view of the above, may I therefore, solicit for your kind support and partnership towards realizing this all-important project.

Yours Truly,

Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha CON, KSC

Ndi Imo, the search is over. Lets support the Imo Unity Candidate to revive Imo State. Imo shall rise again.
